I am an attorney with extensive experience in immigration and nationality law. Though immigration law is my focus, I have practiced in a number of areas, including real estate, appellate matters, and a variety of complex commercial litigation matters, including disputes in the healthcare, oil & gas, and resource extraction industries for several large regional law firms. Additionally, as a litigator in civil matters, I have represented plaintiffs in civil rights claims brought under the U.S. Constitution and 42 U.S.C. § 1983. I now focus full-time on immigration matters because I find the practice rewarding and I believe my immigration clients benefit greatly from the breadth of my experience in other areas of the law. I am a member oof the American Immigration Lawyer's Association.
I received my law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law while also completing an M.A. program at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies. It was during that time that I first began working with asylum-seekers and grappling with the complexities of U.S. immigration law. I also served as the Sutton Editor to the Denver Journal of International Law and Policy, and was inducted into the Order of St. Ives for outstanding scholarly achievement. Among other writings, I have co-authored the chapter on “Corporate Social Responsibility and Accountability Under the Alien Tort Claims Act” in The Law of Transnational Business Transactions (West, July 2008).
Prior to practicing law, I was an outdoor guide, expedition leader, and director of an outdoor adventure learning company. I still enjoy planning new adventures around the world.
I am acutely aware that clients seeking my representation and advice are often facing life-altering decisions and legal issues due to application of U.S. immigration laws. For this reason, I personally handle every matter for which this office is retained – I do not use associate attorneys, paralegals, or other non-attorneys to handle your case. I understand that legal fees can be a burden on families, so I work hard to keep my fees reasonable and I believe my clients find exceptional value in my services. Immigration law is complex and the consequences of mistakes and missed opportunities can be severe and permanent. Exceptional attention to detail by a knowledgeable counselor advocating for your rights makes all the difference in the outcome of your immigration case.
